In “Content + Intent,” students are given a list of conceptual themes and a list of technical considerations. Each image must contain one item from each list. Examples of conceptual prompts include “an image about love (that is not cliche),” “an image with socio/political significance,” and “an image that is immoral or obscene.” The technical considerations list explores both photographic and traditional composition as well as lighting prompts.
“Content + Intent” is a mid-semester project designed to help students begin the transition from the formal, technical photographic skills to conceptual, content-driven images.
