It’s a question of technology. It’s a question of understanding. It’s a question of access. It’s a question of privilege. It’s about the overtones and the subtext. What started with a simple premise—receive artwork, document it, and replace it with a QR Code—became something much bigger. Palimpsest explores the shortcuts that modern technology has allowed but questions the materiality and privilege of artwork. The substrate remains while the artwork has been stripped away. A QR code has been applied to the surface and only those with the proper technology are able to decode the new art-object into the original artwork… (read the full statement)
